Zahlia Short

Surfing

Energetic, confident, and highly driven, Zahlia Short exceeds expectations through hard work and dedication to the sport.

As far back as Zahlia can remember, surfing has been her life. Watching her Mum and Dad surf inspired a passion within her that only surfing can satisfy. Having now been an avid surfer for over 13 years, six of which have been competing, the year 2016 proved to be a pivotal year coming first place in the NSW State Titles U12, NSW Regional Titles U12, Billabong Ozgrom Cup U12, and the Wahu Cronulla U12. Zhalia would then go on to take the first place spot in the 2017 Surfarama U14 Northern Beaches competition and third place in the 2018 NSW State Titles U14.

At aged 17 Zahlia is now competing in the women’s competition alongside her little sister Shayla. She is currently ranked 55th in the Women’s Qualifying Series, her best result of the 2022/2023 season coming in at 2nd place in the Phillip Island Pro.

Although surfing is the primary focus for Zahlia, when not in the water she can be found singing, playing the guitar, or creating surfing videos to share with her ever-growing social community.
